Coliseum project as of this morning.

This is the current status of the Coliseum bedspread project. I'm very happy with the diamonds and squares that are formed once the individual squares are joined together. I'm excited to see it BIG and spread out on a bed!

Hump Day!

I finished another Coliseum this morning and now have a better idea how many squares it will take. In order to get the bedspread to about 100" square, I'm going to need to make it with 49 squares, or 7 X 7. I just ordered the yarn needed to finish the project. I need to make more than one square a day though or it will drag on for weeks!

Baby Blanket

This is a baby blanket I made for the granddaughter of some dear friends in California. They were sweet enough to let me post this pic in my blog. Her cuteness is overwhelming!!

Coliseum Update

Another Coliseum square finished. That makes four and I'm thinking it's going to take 30 or 35 to make the entire bedspread. I wonder if I have enough yarn? Hmmm, yarn shopping? Me? If you insist!!!! Posted by Hello

Jerrah's Poncho

This is a photo of the poncho that I made for Jerrah this past Christmas. I used the TLC Lustre that I'm using on the Coliseum bedspread, and edged it in Lion Brand fun fur.

Holiday!

It was so nice to wake up early this morning, make a cup-o-joe and crochet. I sat overlooking the spring flowers and listened to the birds doing their chores. I was able to make another Coliseum square and have decided to use a join-as-you-go method that I developed for the Crochet Pattern-A-Day™ calendar that is coming out this year. Serendipidously the squares joined together seamlessly. I'll post a pic of the progress in a few days when there are more squares completed and joined.

New Bedspread Project

Now that company is gone I'm going to start on some new projects. I am making a bedspread using the Coliseum square I designed. I started it this afternoon using TLC Lustre in Natural. It's a soft 3 ply yarn that drapes beautifully. I started a ruana last year with this yarn but it was a bit too thin for what I was going for, and ended up using Lion Brand Homespun in Charcoal. It was heavy, but very pretty. Anywho, I'm not sure how many squares it will take to create a queen-sized bedspread, and will just play that by ear.

Toes Go In First

I did manage to find a few minutes yesterday to upload "Coliseum" for the Heartmade Blessings group. If any HMBer's have a chance to try the square out, I would love to hear your comments!

I discovered this great new website today called Yarndex-The Yarn Directory. It appears to have virtually all yarns indexed. I just discovered it this morning so I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but the concept is fantastic! (ThUD)

I'm considering submitting an essay for publication in a book coming out called "Cheaper Than Therapy". It will deal with how fiber arts (knitting, crocheting, etc) helps one get through life and what life throws at one. Hmmm, whenever I'm crocheting or knitting I feel safe because I have yarn to tie the bad guy up, and a weapon to poke him into submission.... hey, that's a start!

Company!!

I have a new 12" afghan square designed called "Coliseum" that I would like to release to the comfortghan group I work with Heartmade Blessings . The square has been tested and revised, photographed and is all ready to go. However, my friend Maggie from high school is arriving today for a visit. These last couple of days I haven't had time to crochet and it's driving me bonkers!! Here is a sneek-peek of the the new square:
