16 of 49 Coliseum Squares - photo

I plan to make this bedspread 7X7 squares to fit a queen-sized bed, but it's looking pretty big already on my king-sized bed. So, I'm going to make it 5X5 and measure, then 6X6 and measure, to be sure that it needs to be 7X7 before I go and make all the squares. I'm pleased with how it's turning out.

Biscayne Bay Shell - photos

I finished up the orchid colored tank top I've been knitting. I'm pleased with how it turned out, and that I have another Christmas gift finished! Woo hoo! I'm not going to start anymore projects (ahem) until I get the Coliseum Bedspread finished and the CGOA Masters Program portfolio shipped off.

Bon Voyage KevConJer!!

This is a tapestry that I made for some friends that moved away from Houston recently. I hope they have a place in their new home to hang it.

Going away gift made for Kevin-Connie-Jerrah.

Today I am going to work on my portfolio for the CGOA Masters of Basic Stitches program. The deadline is coming up and I only have half the swatches worked up and none of the questions answered! LOL Apparently I thrive under pressure! Not!! Well, maybe just a little. Don't even get me started on the Coliseum...

Scarf Pattern info

I've been getting many inquiries about the pattern for the scarf I made. It's from a book called Basic Knitting by Berry and published by Stackpole Books. Click here for a closer view:

I'm knitting like a mad man using the pattern on page 66!

Comfortghan completed.

I just completed assembling this ghan for Heartmade Blessings about an hour ago. It's now in the wash and will be shipped out this afternoon. If you look closely you'll see the now infamous Coliseum square in there. Can you tell which one it is? Miss Chandler seems more interested in the ceiling fan.

Knitted Scarf - Photos

Here are some pics of the scarf that I just finished. Not bad for a Crochet Dude, eh? It was my first try at knitting something "lacy" and I was surprised at how easy it was, how quickly it worked up, and just how little yarn it used (just over one skein of Caron Simply Soft).

Not another project!?

Okay, so I started a Coliseum square this morning. Woo hoo! However, before I could finish it, I heard a pattern for a knitted tank top calling me. Sooo, not wanting to dissapoint my inner artist, I started another project. This one is called a "shell", which is a term I've never heard of, but it just looks like a tank top to me. I'm making it with a worsted weight in "orchid". Another Christmas present on its way to being finished!

Coliseum Revisited

So today I was able to squeeze in two more Coliseum squares. That makes 14 out of 49! The bad part is that I was thinking that I had finished 34% of the project, but when I double checked my math with a calculator it turns out that I have only finished 29%. Good thing I don't demotivate easily!! When I get 16 finished I will post another pic.

Scarf Finished!!

I finished the Biscayne Bay Scarf today. It was fun to knit something for a change of pace. I definitely love crochet, but variety is spicey, eh? That's one more Christmas gift that I can check off the list! Woo hoo! I'll post a pic another day.

WIP

A big thanks to Zarzuela for pointing me to Andrea who has a great little tutorial on putting Works in Progress percentage bars into a blog. Woo hoo! Now I can track my progress here which will hopefully *crossing fingers & toes* motivate me to finish the projects quicker!

I also want to thank everyone that has purchased the e-Book Heartmade Squares . You have made it such a great success right from the start. You rock!!!

e-Book released: Heartmade Squares

Yesterday was a big day! Not only did my webpage get up and running, an e-Book was published that featured three of my patterns. Two patterns are for 12 inch afghan squares, and I also designed the joining method for the final afghan. Here is a picture of the cover of the e-Book called Heartmade Squares.

It's 47 degrees and raining in Houston, Texas. That can only mean one thing: hot chai and crochet!!

The Crochet Dude 1.0

Last night I launched the first version of my website. I have big plans for developing the content further, but for now it serves as a presence in cyberworld. Click the button to the right to check it out.

If you have a map to the Coliseum, would you email it to me please? So much has been going on that I have had to put that project on the back burner. All the yarn has arrived to finish it so it's time to haul it out and get crackin!

Comfortghan Shipped

I shipped out a comfortghan for Heartmade Blessings today. It's such a great experience comforting people through crochet and especially as an assembler. I love receiving the squares in the mail from all over the world, then putting them together and seeing how each square maker expresses him/herself through hooking. Click here if you would like to see some examples of ghans that I've assembled for this charity.

The Sun Came Up As Predicted

The sun is out, the pressure is off and I can work on some new projects (along with my old friend the Coliseum bedspread). Last night I watched a movie from 1938 and knitted a dischloth. It's a great feeling to meet a deadline!!

Sendin' out a holla for Zarzuela on her birthday! Check out her blog and send her birthday wishes!

Wrong Week To Quit Coffee

Woo hoo, the wed/thur deadline for this project got moved up to a firm Wednesday!! LOL - I need to live across the street from a Starbuck's again..... I stayed up crocheting last night until the sandman had literally glued my eyes shut. But hey, the work is finished, the project is photographed and submitted, now I just need to edit a few things, write up a few things and get all those... er, 'things' sent off. What must it have been like before email and online photo albums? I shudder just thinking about it.... ;)

Looming Deadlines

I just found out that my Friday deadline for getting this ghan finished, photographed, patterns edited, etc has been moved up to Wed/Thurs! LOL Hmm, I choose Thurs. at this point! :) Anywho, I was able to crochet half a day yesterday and most of today and with the progress made, I'm going to slide right under and meet that deadline, no problemo.

Check out Martha getting on the plane in the now infamous poncho, and let me know if you have the pattern. Rumor has it that it was knitted by a fellow inmate at Camp Cupcake.

Friday Already

Wow, it's Friday already!! TGIF!! That being said, I've spent the week with a handyman in my house keeping the family room from falling off and/or burning down. Not much time for crocheting this week.

Oh yeah, and the handyman is my big brother who is here visiting for the week, so playing host is taking most of any free time that I have.

Anywho, the only crocheting I've done this week is Coliseum squares, totalling 11 for the bedspread. When I get 16 finished I will post another pic. The overall effect of the different images in the ghan as more squares are joined changes as each new one is added. It's been fascinating to watch it develop as I go.

I have a deadline next week for an eBook that is being published soon that includes two of my designs and a joining method I've yet to develop. I guess it's time to get cracking on the joining method, eh? My brother is heading out early Sunday morning which means I'm going to be crocheting from sun up to sun down starting then.

Twin-sized Dishcloth Bedspread

This is a twin-sized bedspread that I made by modifying a smaller dishcloth pattern and joining them with a simple twisted dc border. I had to change the pattern quite a bit but I still do not consider it a The Crochet Dude original. I love how the colors look juicy and happy together!!
